PYRAN® S is a pre-stressed, monolithic, borosilicate single-pane fire-rated safety glass in accordance with EN 13024-1. PYRAN® S is far superior to traditional ﬁre resistant glasses with respect to its appearance and ability to withstand heat. Manufactured in a one-of-its-kind micro-ﬂoat facility in Germany, PYRAN® S combines the unique combination of borosilicate glass and the ﬂoat process to produce an extremely high-quality product. As a component in ﬁre-resistant glazing that meets the requirements of resistance classes E 30, E 60, E 90 and E 120, it has proven its outstanding optical and mechanical characteristics over the years in a wide variety of buildings. PYRAN® S as a single pane safety glass meets all requirements for improved safety. In the event of breakage, it displays a typical toughened glass breakage i.e. into small fragments and meets the requirements of statutory accident insurance as well as the Health and Safety at Work Act, thus providing an added plus in terms of safety and reliability.
PYRAN® S gets you several advantages that no competing product can, most important of which is its ability to remain transparent in the event of a fire. Under very minor fires that are extinguished within a few minutes, PYRAN® S can potentially be reused; however, the glazing components might require change.
RESISTANCE TO CHEMICALS
Since PYRAN® S is without any coating or interlayers, the resistance to chemicals like acids, alkalis and chlorine is extremely high. This is extremely critical in places with high chemical content in air like oil refineries, chemical factories and oil rigs.
